John Couzens

A co-founder and managing partner of Trinity Capital Services, John has more than 25 years' experience in corporate finance transactions.
John's experience prior to his time with Trinity includes service as a corporate board director for 14 companies in the energy, technology, industrial, and utilities sectors. He represented Anschutz Company (Denver) as a corporate officer and board director for its portfolio companies, was commercial lending division head for Northern Trust Corporation (Chicago), and has worked for Price Waterhouse (Washington, DC). Throughout his career, John has guided companies through challenging situations and solved problems for shareholders.
John holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Villanova University. He is a licensed CPA in the state of Colorado (Certificate #21968), holds Series 7, 24, and 63 licenses, and has spoken at industry conferences.
For the University of Colorado at Denver's Business School, John is member of the advisory board for the Master of Finance degree program, and a regular lecturer in corporate financial management for the Master of Business Administration program.
In the community, John serves as a trustee of the Denver Botanic Gardens and Colorado Council on Economic Education.
Duane Knight

An expert in financial management with more than 20 years of experience, Duane heads Trinity Capital Services’ life sciences practice. He concentrates on financial strategy alternatives, management issues related to growth, and private equity placements, drawing upon extensive work in raising capital, recapitalizations, mergers and acquisitions, and due diligence.
Before joining Trinity Capital Services, Duane served as chief financial officer for Denver Biomedical, Inc., leading the company through an exit provision for a venture capital partner; recapitalization with a private equity partner, refinance of debt to provide shareholder dividend payment; and sale of the company.
As owner of D.C. Knight & Company, Inc. (Denver), Duane provided accounting, audit, forensic investigation, litigation support, and business advisory services for clients. In the Denver metro area, he also has held the positions of treasurer and vice president of finance for Mallon Resources Corporation, accounting manager for both Snyder Oil Corporation and Walker Associates, and audit manager for Hein + Associates, LLP, and Taake and Wieland.
Duane holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Colorado, and Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Colorado State University. He is a member of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants, American College of Forensic Examiners, Association for Corporate Growth, and Financial Executives Institute.
Scott Murray

A co-founder of Trinity Capital Services, Scott maintains more than 15 years of experience in corporate governance, focusing on financial modeling and analysis, and security pricing and valuation. His industry experience includes media and entertainment, distribution and telecommunications.
Prior to his work with Trinity, Scott served as director of planning and analysis for Qwest Digital Media, LLC, in Denver. As a senior consultant with Chicago Partners, LLC, in Chicago, he conducted financial and economic analysis in dispute resolution matters involving security and derivative security pricing and portfolio valuation, security fraud, and corporate governance.
Scott has also held positions of senior risk management consultant for CP Risk Management, LLC (subsidiary of Chicago Partners), associate with the Law & Economics Consulting Group, Inc. (Washington, D.C.), and economist for the United States International Trade Commission (Washington, D.C.).
Scott holds a Master of Business Administration degree, with concentrations in analytic finance and accounting, from the University of Chicago, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kansas. He holds Series 7, 24, and 63 licenses, is an industry conference presenter, and has had work published in Derivatives Quarterly. He is a regular lecturer in corporate financial management in the Master of Business Administration program of the University of Colorado at Denver’s Business School.
Tim Atwell

As an analyst with The Trinity Group, Tim specializes in institutional equity private placements. The Trinity Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Trinity Capital Services, LLC, operates as a FINRA-regulated investment bank.
Prior to his work with Trinity, Tim spent three years with Deutsche Bank’s DWS Scudder Investments in Chicago. During his tenure, Tim served as a specialist in sales and business development, focusing on complex financial products. He also held the position of investment associate and played an active role in the company’s training and development program.
Tim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio), and holds Series 6, 62, and 63 licenses. In the community, Tim is a member of the Young Professionals Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado.
Danny Harrison

An analyst, Danny assists Trinity's clients in the development of financial models and business plans, completion of historical financial statement analysis, and preparation of business valuations, as well as conducts industry research and trend analysis.
Before joining Trinity, Danny held the position of loan facilitator with Apollo Financial Services in Greenwood Village, Colo. There, he structured, approved and managed loans through the closing process, and developed and implemented a business plan to position the company to survive in a shrinking market and gain long-term competitive advantage.
Danny also served as a financial analyst intern in the asset management division of Republic Financial Corporation in Aurora, Colo., and completed financial internships with Redstone Integrated Solutions in Colorado Springs and UBS Paine Webber in Boulder, Colo.
He received a Master of Business Administration degree, and Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, from the University of Colorado. He holds a Series 7 license.
